The development of biotechnology projects undertaken by Feedstock Optimum together with MHG Systems in Penza region was discussed during the meeting between the Governor of Penza region V. Bochkarev and the President of Russian Bioindustry Association R. Vasilov.
A meeting between the Governor of Penza region (Russian Federation) Vasily Bochkarev and the President of Russian Bioindustry Association Raif Vasilov was held this Friday, August 27th in the capital of the Penza oblast – the city of Penza. During the meeting, which was also attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Government of Penza region Yuri Bykov and CEO of “Vadinsk Bio” Ltd Arkady Isenin, the perspectives of cooperation in Bioenergy sector between Finland, represented by leading Finnish supply chain development and management companies “Feedstock Optimum” and “MHG Systems,” and Penza region were discussed.
The first step in the long term cooperation is the development and construction of a large scale wood processing plant, to be constructed in the Penza region. The area for the plant has been already selected – it is going to be constructed right next to the town of Vadinsk. At the moment the technical and economical characteristics of a future plant are being defined, as well as the types of production and operational capacity of the factory.
The negotiations between the “Vadinsk Bio,” as a project partner from the Russian side and consortium of companies “Feedstock Optimum” and “MHG Systems” from the Finnish side was held with assistance of Russian Bioindustry Association and resulted in a several framework documents and agreements. As Raif Vasilov, the President of Russian Bioindustry Association states, Finnish business “is interested in mutually beneficial cooperation with Penza region in the area of Biotechnology. The project of wood processing plant construction will become a new step for expansion to perspective and growing Russian market.”
Deputy Chairman of the Government of Penza region Yuri Bykov announced the official visit to Finland of a delegation consisting of government and business officials from Penza region. The visit will be held in September 2010. During the visit, a number of business meetings and other engagements will be held, to discuss the possibilities of a greater involvement of Finnish companies in the investment projects in Penza region of Russia.
“The visit of delegation from Penza region is a wonderful chance to discuss the cooperation opportunities and to showcase the real business cases in Finland, some of the most innovative enterprises working in the Bioenergy sector of the Kouvola and East Savo regions”-says Managing Director of MHG Systems Seppo Huurinainen.

The region is famous throughout Russia as an important agricultural and forestry region, it is situated about 400 km from Moscow. The capital of the region, the city of Penza is an important transportation and industrial hub of the entire District. The governor of Penza region, V.Bochkarev, was appointed by the Legislative Assembly of Penza region, after being submitted as a candidate by the President of Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev in may 2010.
